Ambr. S 31 sup., f. 103r

Folio 103r transmits lines 63-80 of Callimachus’ Second Hymn (Hymn to Apollo), accompanied by six marginal scholia and two interlinear glosses written in red ink. Most of the scholia are arranged along the right margin, except for one, of smaller size, placed on the left margin so as to maintain a consistent alignment between interpretandum and interpretamentum. This layout, balanced between text and para-text, allows for an easy reading of each element within the writing space. The legibility of the scholia is further enhanced by the use of red ink, employed for the initial letters, for the reference marks (different in each case) placed next to the corresponding word, and for a small dot that closes each scholion. A red semicircle open to the left precedes the last line of the para-text parallel to the poetic text and the two lines that follow it.

The dimensions of the writing space on fol. 103r are (height × width) mm 17 [157] 57 × 23 [72] 65.
