Eight Greek manuscripts from the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan

This section hosts a virtual exhibition of eight manuscripts with ancient Greek poetry and exegetical paratexts owned by the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan.

Homer, Callimachus, and Theocritus are represented.

High resolution digital images of some folios of these manuscripts are made available as a special courtesy of the Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana, which granted permission to include them in this virtual exhibition. A description of content, writing, and layout features of each manuscript and folio on display is provided.

The complete digitizations of most of these manuscripts (Nos. 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7) are freely available on the website Biblioteca Digitale della Veneranda Biblioteca Ambrosiana.

This branch of the project was directed and coordinated by Antonietta Porro, Leader of the Research Unit of Milan, Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore.
