Ambr. G 32 sup., f. 16v

F. 16v of manuscript Ambr. G 32 sup. preserves verses 51-54 of Theocritus’ third Idyll, that is, the conclusion of the poem begun on f. 14r. In this final section, the central column reserved for the poetic text is markedly reduced, consisting of only four lines. In the upper and outer margins appear scholia numbered ιζ and ιη, which refer to verses copied on f. 16r. Their placement suggests that at this point the scribe was forced to adjust the apparatus slightly, shifting the commentary in order to accommodate the shortened column of text. Together, the poetic text and the surrounding scholia occupy roughly the upper half of the folio, down to line 23. At that point, a two-coloured floral motif functions as both ornament and marker, clearly indicating the end of the exegesis on the third Idyll and signalling the transition to the commentary on the next poem, with the hypothesis and scholium to v. 1 (Κορύδων).

The writing area on f. 16v measures 2 (10) [38] (120) 14 × 16 (15) [80] 17 mm. The dimensions in round brackets indicate the sections taken up by the marginal scholia, while those in square brackets refer to the actual writing space strictu sensu, reserved for the poetic text. The numbers outside the brackets correspond to the blank space left unoccupied by writing.
