The Bibliography of ancient Greek exegesis is a collaborative bibliographical database on the relationship between text and exegetical paratext in the ancient Greek literary tradition. Its purpose is to collect an updated and comprehensive bibliography on ancient exegesis of Greek poetic texts, from the points of view of, on the one hand, the history of the manuscript tradition and the effects on the historical-literary and cultural level and, on the other, the functional and typological dynamics.
The online database provides public access to critical bibliography on ancient Greek exegesis and is intended to support the research in the field enabling bibliographical research not only through the most traditional search fields (author, title, date of publication, all fields), but also through new search fields. With particular reference to the latter, innovative search criteria of relevance to ancient exegesis are:
- KEYWORDS CONCERNING ANCIENT EXEGESIS, selected and organised to be not only a descriptive data but also a search tool that facilitates both general and specific research and that can be integrated according to the requirements and future developments of the studies.
- ANCIENT AUTHOR, with the possibility to search both by commenting author and by commented author, in case the same author wrote both literary and exegetical works.
- PAPYRI AND MANUSCRIPTS, searchable through their shelfmarks to track down all the publications concerning the specific papyrus or manuscript under investigation.
