Third Codicological Unit (copied in 1509)
The third and final unit of the codex comprises quires 9 (ff. 89-98) -10 (ff. 99-111). The ninth quire is a quaternion of ten leaves, while the is a regular quire of twelve leaves, with an additional leaf (f. 110) inserted, probably at a later period. The third section of the codex therefore comprises a total of 23 leaves.
The third unit of the manuscript transmits the Hymns of Callimachus, accompanied by marginal scholia and interlinear glosses. The watermark cannot be identified, yet a countermark with the letters omega is faintly visible along the lower margins of the leaves.
The decoration is simple, executed in light carmine ink by the same hand as the scribe.
On the first folio of this unit, the scribe wrote at the top the title Καλλιμάχου Ὕμνοι, but left the page blank, probably for protective purposes. According to current bibliography, this copist can be identified as Michael Suliardos, who transcribed the codex in 1509, as he himself stated in a subscription on f. 111v.
The folios are dry-point ruled with the aid of a mastara; no traces of pricking are present. Each page contains thirty-three lines of writing (Rr. 33/ll. 33), with the first line ‘below the top line’.
The title of the Hymns is written in black ink on the front board; on the back board there are several inscriptions of the same period.
Unlike the Callimachean manuscripts Ambr. B 98 sup. and Ambr. S 31 sup., the scholia, though neatly aligned and placed in the margins, are not written beside the corresponding lemma, but copied next to the first line of the poetic text, sometimes starting on a new line, sometimes continuing without a break. The arrangement of the scholia does not follow the sequence of the verses containing the corresponding lemmata. The glosses are written interlinearly.
