F. 15r of manuscript Ambr. G 32 sup. preserves verses 19-29 of Theocritus’ third Idyll, continuing the transcription of the poetic text begun on f. 14v (verses 9-18). Like the preceding page, it displays a carefully designed and orderly layout: the poem occupies the central column, framed on all sides by scholia in the margins. The marginal notes follow the sequence of the poem with remarkable precision. At the top margin appears the conclusion of the scholium ad v. 18, begun on f. 14v; from there, the commentary proceeds along the outer and lower margins, culminating in the last line of the bottom margin, which contains the ad v. 29 (τηλέφιλον). The result is a page that exemplifies the close correspondence between lemma and commentary, testifying to the scribe’s deliberate calibration of the writing space in order to preserve a balanced relationship between the text and its exegetical apparatus.
The writing area on f. 15r measures 2 (24) [87] (55) 16 × 10 [82] (20) 16 mm.
