F. 14v of the manuscript Ambr. G 32 sup. contains verses 9-18 of Theocritus’ third Idyll. This page offers an exemplary case for examining the carefully designed page architecture that governs the relationship between the poetic text and its scholia. The scholia are distributed across the upper, outer, and lower margins, with the clear aim of accompanying the reading of the text as closely as possible, though not without some inevitable displacements. In fact, the notes on this folio refer not only to the verses actually copied here (vv. 9-18), but also to two earlier verses od Idyll III (vv. 7-8) written on the preceding recto (f. 14r).
The dimensions of the written area on f. 14v are 2 (39) [80] (46) 17 × 15 (15) [80] 18 mm. Numbers in round brackets indicate the portions occupied by the scholia in the margins, while those in square brackets refer to the effective writing space strictu sensu, reserved for the poetic text. Numbers given without brackets correspond to the blank spaces left free of writing.
