Ambr. S 31 sup., f. 102v

F. 102v preserves the verses 45-62 of Callimachus’ second Hymn (Hymn to Apollo), together with four scholia, whose initial letters are written in red (in three out of four cases), and several red glosses placed in the interlinear space. From the material and typological perspective, this folio is a perfect exemplum of the entire section of the manuscript containing Callimachus’ Hymns: it displays an orderly, clear, and well-balanced layout between the text and the space reserved for the para-text. The scholia are written only in the left margin of the folio, perfectly aligned and always at the same distance from the verses. The correspondence between the exegetical notes and the commented text is clarified not only by the spatial arrangement of the scholia – always placed on the same line as the word they refer to – but also by the red semeia set before each scholion and above the corresponding lemma.

The writing space on folio 102v measures (height × width) mm 17 [158] 56 × 70 [67] 23.
