Biography
Greta Gerthoux is a third year PhD candidate in Classical Philology at the University of Genoa. She works at the intersection between ancient Homeric scholarship, mythography and reception of Archaic Greek poetry. Her dissertation explores the reception of Aristarchus’ philology and his Peripatetic theoretical background within the D-scholia to the Iliad and focuses especially on the exegetical functions of the mythographic historiai deriving from the Mythographus Homericus. She mastered some aspects of her research in the field of ancient mythography during a stay as a visiting student at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. She published and presented on a variety of topics connected to her research interests, including ancient erudition, Homeric exegesis, and mythographic innovations and rewriting of mythical patterns in the Classical and Hellenistic period.
