Biography

Carla Castelli, PhD, is Associate Professor of Greek Language and Literature at the University of Milan. Her research focuses on the literary and scholarly production mainly from the Hellenistic to Late Antique periods, with annotated critical editions, thematic studies in stylistics and rhetoric, contributions on the reception of classical texts in antiquity, and on the history of classical studies, in particular on the discoveries of Angelo Mai. The Homeric scholia accompanying the Late Antique miniatures of the Ilias picta Ambrosiana are a specific area of research linked to the Paratext Research Programme: studies to date have focused on the nature and composition of the scholarly material and its collocation in relation to the images, as well as on the presence of passages from Euripides' Rhesus and Andromache in the body of the Homeric scholia.
